About The Cool Seagull Graphic Design

Way back in the beginning, when I was but a little gaffer, there was an older classmate who painted a picture of the moon surface using wax crayons and watercolor paint. It was, at the time, the coolest thing I had ever seen. From that moment on it seemed that I was to be involved with graphic art in some form or another for the rest of my days. (although my days are still going, I cannot foresee a time when I will not doing anything in the graphics world.) Developing a style took quite awhile, but it's one of those things that will come naturally, the style becomes you, whether you want it or not, of course with all of the influences one picks up along the way.

"So, here we are again at the start of the end, but there's more, there's always more..."

The Cool Seagull Graphic Design began life out of necessity in April of 1997 and since that time I have strived to improve in the overall design of each new project that I take on. There sure has been alot to learn in the graphic arts field over the last few years, with computers, the internet, print, changing design sense and even more things that still have to be learned. Well, all I can do is what I know now, although with each new software release and hardware upgrade, it's back to the books to try to keep up. In the end, it's all about making the best looking piece of work one can do at the time, yes, there's always more, more and more.

What is the style that The Cool Seagull Graphic Design employs? Let's see, hmmm.....I guess that's what this web site is for, to show you in a much better way than words ever could, you know, a picture is worth a thousand words, (maybe two thousand words or more) Lately, I've really been into page layout, and book producing, I think that I would like to explore this realm of graphic art for a while. In the past it has been painting and hand lettering signs, producing separations for t-shirt art, illustrating birds and other things, creating pop-up cards, building web sites, and making variable music CD's, then producing all of the graphics for the cover, the back of the CD and the disk itself. (countless millions of hours has been spent doing this, could be a hobby of mine, though I'm not quite sure yet, if it is a hobby, then the latest craze for me is transferring old LP records to CD, the hard to find ones, the ones they don't make anymore...) This is still an interesting hobby and I still endulge, but then I bought an iPod and music has never been the same for me.

All in all, it's been 32 years and counting that I've been involved in the graphic arts industry. I would like to spend at least 32 more years in the industry learning and designing new things, but one of these days I would like to try my design skills on a garden to create a wonderful place for people to spend time in and forget about problems.

Thanks for taking the time to read this,

Dave Jacquith, The Cool Seagull Graphic Design.
